March 2009
Feeling Abandoned? Don’t fret. I’m just busy being inspired.
Well, to be honest… I’m busy being inspired while fighting off a spring cold and allergies and having a mini mental meltdown.
But most of that was earlier last week… since then, I’ve been struck with a burst of insight and motivation about the long promised course in brain fitness. It’s meant rearranging things a bit, and a minor delay in launch (again!) but I’m really, really excited about the new approach. I’ve chained myself to the computer to work on it, in hopes of being able to give you a sneak peek in the next two weeks or so.
Meanwhile, I trust you’ll forgive my silence for just a little bit longer. Especially since I hunted down a few wacky free online games and such for you.
Check out Maze Frenzy - a nifty sort of a mouse-trap maze that requires good hand-eye coordination. Boy, could I tell I’m using a cheap mouse!
Or the loverly, relaxing and pointless Grappa graphic application. I don’t know why it pleases me so much. It just does.
But my all time favorite relaxing web game is Flow. a flowing, musical, abstract, underwater bit of blue loveliness. I may have linked to it before, but I don’t care. It’s worth a do-over!
Go. Enjoy. I’ll be back soon, and wackier than ever, I promise!

Brand New Brain Fitness: CogniFit’s Personal Coach
CogniFit is one of the trusted standbys in the brain training field. Their software has always been among my top recommended picks, and their latest product updates their line with some pretty nifty features.
As the name implies, Personal Coach focuses on the “personal” aspect, bringing in what sounds like a pretty complex algorithm to manage the difficulty and type of challenges in each brain training session, making it a more personalized session than anything else available. [click to continue...]

How I Became Aware Of My Own Brain
Part of Brain Awareness Week, 2009
I‘m not exactly sure when I first noticed my brain, but I didn’t take it too seriously until I was about 21 years old. Oh, sure, I KNEW I had one before then… but I didn’t really spend much time pondering the ins and outs of my personal neural networks.
Mind you, I’d always been fascinated by the human mind. I was all about analyzing personalities, consciousness and cognitive processes. But I thought about them in a vague, abstract and amorphous way… as if what I called the mind was some sort of ethereal hermit crab that took up residence in people’s skulls.

Save $50 on BrainBuilder Software: Part of Brain Awareness Week 2009
Yepp, this is the same BrainBuilder reviewed earlier this month, the one from Advanced Brain Technologies that comes with the bonus CD’s.
In honor of Brain Awareness Week, ABT is offering a $50 discount on their BrainBuilder software, good until March 22nd . That makes it only $149, for up to five users… which means it’s one heck of a deal.
No coupon code is required, just purchase it through the promotional link below, and remember to complete your purchase before March 22nd.
BrainBuilder Discount through March 22nd:

(No, that’s not an affiliate link. And no, they haven’t promised me any more chocolates. Quit being so cynical!)

It’s Brain Awareness Week: Do YOU Know Where Your Hippocampus Is?
“If there’s a Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Secretary’s Day, and
Grandparent’s Day…. why isn’t there a KID’s DAY?”
asked a very serious young Miss Deaux,
concerned she was missing out
on her share of pressies.
“Because EVERYDAY is Kid’s Day!”
replied Momma Deaux, looking a bit annoyed.
That’s sort of how I feel about Brain Awareness Week….. EVERYDAY is Brain Awareness Day, here on MindTweaks. Well, at least every day that I crawl out of bed and manage to churn out a vaguely on topic post, that is.
