Welcome Back, Elemental Truths!

Over on Elemental Truths, blogger Reg Adkins  recently had some issues with identity theft.  

(Ok,  blog hacking stealing and splogging may not technically be identity theft, but our online presence IS part of our identity. I’m trying to stay on topic.  Work with me here!)

One day, Elemental Truths was filled with the familiar coffee colored articles on better work place environments, team buiding and other things-of-tweaking-interest. 

The next, it was a single sage-colored political post (probably stolen from some third party) and all of Reg’s posts were gone.  Erased. Wiped out. Vamoose!

I cringed.  I know how much of ourselves we poor into these blogs and sites, and how much of our identity we wind up investing in them.  A great deal of work goes into building an image, credibility, and authority, and in many cases, blogs are directly associated with a person’s name, personal and business identity, etc.   Losing control of that is as painful, or more so, than having your house or car broken into.

I was pondering writing a supportive post, something about how we can psychologically cope with the loss of our identity, and how it relates to psuedo-buddhist concepts of attachment and suffering, when…

Voila!  Someone at Blogspot woke up, restored the blog to it’s proper owner, and hopefully soundly spanked the perpetrator. 

Reg is one of the good guys.  He strives to be positive, helpful, grounded, and just all around inspirational.  He’s put a lot of work into Elemental Truths, Weekly Hero, and other projects on and off line.  He was one of the first bloggers to encourage me, and one of the occasional commenters I secretly live to impress.  (Shh. Don’t tell him that, k?)

He’s posted about his experience, if a bit self consciously. Won’t you join me in giving him a resounding “Welcome Back”?
