Share The Words: The MindTweaks Book GiveAway

by ToriDeaux on August 8, 2007

Words are wonderful things. They’re even more wonderful when shared. So I’m going to exchange words for words this week, and give books away to some of my beloved blog readers.

Yes, I said “my beloved blog readers.” That’s you. And yes, it’s a bit inappropriate to call you beloved, but do you want the chance to win a book or don’t you? I thought so!

How does it work, you ask? Simple. You leave a comment sometime this week. At the end of this week, I pick two winners (one random, one at my discretion) and they get a free book mailed to them.

Sound good? Here are the formal rules:

  1. To enter, just leave a comment and valid email address on the MindTweaks blog, during the week of Aug. 8-14th.
  2. At the end of the week, I’ll pick a random “Tweaker of the Week” from those who left comments. I’ll also pick a personal favorite - maybe the most prolific, maybe one that makes me laugh, maybe one that made me think.
  3. Winners will be notified by email, and announced on the blog.
  4. The winners each get to pick one of the books. For Free.Mailed to them. And yes, I’ll pay domestic US postage. (Sorry, no international shipping, at least this first time… I’m a broke blogger, and I really don’t understand customs.)

As for the books, I tried to pick out a variety of genres. They’re all in good to excellent condition. I *think* I got them all linked to the proper editions via Amazon, so you can check them out.

More contest details:

  1. One entry per person for the random drawing. (but comment as often and as creatively as you like to try and become my personal pick)
  2. Anything that even vaguely looks like spam or an advertisement will be disqualified. (The idea is to reward real readers, and encourage communication)
  3. In the event that both winners choose the same book, the random winner gets first pick.
  4. Yes, you’ll have to give me a real snail-mail address for me to ship the book to you if you win, but I swear to never use your personal information for nefarious or spammy purposes.
  5. If a winner chooses not to take delivery on a book, or has not responded via email within 10 days, I will “release the book in the wild” ala BookCrossing.
  6. Contest period runs from 12:01am Central Daylight Time on August 8th, 2007 till midnight 12:01am CDT August 14th, 2007.
  7. No purchase necessary. Must be 18 to enter. Void where prohibited. Any other legal jargon I’ve forgotten.

I think that should cover it. If you have any questions, leave a comment : )
(and get a chance at a book in the process)

Sorry for the delay in commenting MT, but first I had to get my personal organization space set up, and I was delayed because I couldn’t find the pastel purple stickies I just had to have. Once I got set up I started writing on the wall, only to discover you said “write your way through the wall” not “write on the wall.” So I had to erase the writing on the wall, which caused my plates to stop spinning and come crashing to the ground.

Erasing the writing on the wall and picking up the shattered plates on the floor de-optimized my mental registry. So I took a break and listened to the sound of silence while I searched for the secret. But then I thought if negative thinking results in positive results, perhaps the Secret was not the best way to win this book. So I made sure my neurons were looking in the mirror, broke out my mind productivity programs and got some goals. Alas, I found I was missing pzizzz. So I paid a friend to spin the plates while I took a power nap.

Now that I had pzizzz I set pixel to paper, but found that the merging of the two was not very productive. So I took a brain break while I reviewed the map on how to get from her to there – did you know there are 6 paths, and it is so confusing trying to figure out the one I need to take. Not to be deterred I stripped off the fluff (not in a pornographic way mind you) and found my faith. Now with pot on head and Sancho at my side I embarked on the pixel quest to free the book from being abandoned to the wild - no matter how many windmills stood in my way.

Alas, as I started this quest I found that was 6 steps down the 10 step path to becoming a multi-millionaire. A sudden change in course would once again result in plates falling to the floor so onward I went. Though I am no richer I did become a reluctant leader of a group of people who thought I knew that which I don’t, merely because I know I knew less than them. Forgive me, had a Socrates moment there.

At any rate I got back on the right path, but I blinked and found I was unconscious and drifting in a sea of shifting meaning, purpose and identity. So I had to borrow a brown sack (wanted a white one with a logo, but alas they are not to be found) to place on my head so I could regain my anonymity.

With sack firmly on head I began again this journey of ten to find the secret to the words in the book. As I walked this path I heard a moo, so I took some time to tip a sacred cow or two.

Now as I near the end of the quest, I find there are 101 things I should have done to tweak my mind for I started my journey down this path. But to do so I would have to return to whence I came and I have already shared to many words. So if I don’t get that book I am going to burn this sack and shoot that damn cow!
