Playing Tag - The Personal Development Blog List

by ToriDeaux on September 6, 2007

Most of you are familiar with the idea of blog memes, tag lists, and so on. I know you’re familiar with them, because many of you keep tagging me — and I keep letting the games die. It’s not that I’m not interested, I am! I just get so caught up in the brain/mind ponderings they slip my mind (other things slip my mind, too… I’d tell you about them, but I’ve forgotten what they are).

But I’ve resolved to do better, starting with the most recent game of tag — Priscilla Palmer’s Personal Development List. It’s a great big list of personal development blogs. Many of my favorite blogs and bloggers are already on the list. Many of *you* are already on the list. In fact most of the blogs I read are already on the list.

That’s what happens when you’re playing tag, stop to count to 100, get distracted by a turkey sandwich, a phonecall, and a cloud that looks like a butterfly. The game passes you by (but you do have a nice lunch, get to fuss at a telemarketer, and smile at the sky.)

I did manage to find a few blogs to add, though… here they are, for your personal development pleasure:

Crabby McSlacker’s Cranky Fitness

Ok, so fitness may not be what most people think of as personal development — but how much more personal does it get, than your weight? Crabby is an amazing blogger, with spunk, attitude, humor, and style. She’s going to be a serious force to be reckoned with, in the blog world…

I do give you one caution… she’s funnier than I am. Do not sip your coffee while reading her blog, unless you fancy a caffeinated monitor!

Douglas Eby’s Talent Development Resources

Douglas actually has a whole string of blogs/topics under the TDR banner, all dealing with gifted adults/teens, and the struggles high intelligence and giftedness brings, struggles often overlooked in a world that assumes “being smart” means you’ll have it made. (sound familiar?) It’s worth checking out.

Next Up? A couple of Brain Fitness Blogs. Your brain is personal, right? And it needs development, right? Tada.

Alvaro’s Sharp Brains Blog

Lumosity’s Brain Health Blog

If that’s not enough to keep you busy, you can check out the original and continually updated Personal Development List on Priscilla Palmer’s blog. She’s put a lot of work into organizing it, and deserves the extra click!

(Originally, this post had the full list included, but eventually I started to wonderif it might be an issue with search engine penalties… so I’ve removed them. )

Hello MT:

I think there’s a close connection between physical fitness and personal development. Thanks for pointers to other blogs and thanks also for the link. You know who tagged you, don’t you ;)

Here’s something else for coaches: Leadership Coaching There are 600+ resource links on this site for any coaching question related to being on a board (what is the best board training? What is the best board conference I should go to?…) Plus a page on board movies!

Wow, thanks so much for the kind words!

And you’ve got a great sense of humor too and a fascinating, well-written blog. I’ll definitely have to spend some serious time here stealing ideas… er… getting better informed on personal development issues!

Wow, aren’t you all a commenting bunch! How cool that the personal development genre is so interactive.

You’re all welcome for the links and mentions. Glad to know you all agreed with my choice of Crabby’s exercise blog.

Galba: why, no…. I cant *imagine* who tagged me for this!

Alvaro: I love the neuro-science quote post… you may have inspired an MT post on the topic.

Andy: wow… a rockstar! On my blog! Yay! ;) (I’m old enough that the 70’s isn’t quite ancient history!)

John: Provocative challenge. I don’t know if I can add to it or not, but I’ll definitely think on it :)

And Crabby: feel free to steal borrow what you like. I regularly pilfer find stylistic inspiration from you!

I was honestly surprised at the success of this list. The response is amazing, and I look forward to getting to know many of you.
