Top Ten Excuses Not To Update Your Blog!
So, once again, I’m in danger of becoming a blogging statistic, one of the millions who have abandoned their blogs to the empty ravages of cyber space. But with a final, great effort, I’ve found the strength to offer my valiant, faithful and stubborn readers a fresh bit of advice on how they, too can excuse any blog post lapses they may be having.
Should they decide they’d rather not be a blogosphere statistic, I’ve also provided answers to the excuses, along with repetitive orders to get on with it. So without further ado…..
Ahem.
10. I’m busy writing the next Great American Novel!
Yeah. Ok. Um. So NaNoWriMo was a good excuse during November — but unless you’ve written more than that measly 300 words of yours in December, start posting, and start posting NOW!
9. I’m catching up on other stuff after taking a month off for NaNo.
Hellooo… isn’t this blog “other stuff?” Start writing.
8. Burn Out!
Fair enough. It’s easy to get burnt out and lose interest, especially when a blogger loses sight of the “why” behind their blog. Solution? Either actively decide to stop blogging, and close things down properly, or find a focus and *make* it meaningful again.
Anything else will just keep you in burn out mode, and feeling guilty.
So get back to posting.
7. I’m working on product development! No, Really! I am!
This one is true enough in my case. I’ve got three MindTweaks related products floundering along at the moment: one video related, two book related. They’re all part of my solution to the burn out, motivations for sticking with this, and a worthy use of time. So here’s my coaching on this one:
It’s admirable you’re investing time in product development to give meaning to your life this blog. But if you let the blog fall apart, what’s left to give purpose to? You *can* manage to blog *while* you develop the products. Really. I swear. So start writing.
6. I can’t think of reasons 1-6!! Brain Freeze!
Re-title the post Top Five Reasons, and get on with it.
5. I want to do a blog for writers. I’m not sure if I should start a new one, re-purpose this one, or or or….
Uncertainty is not an excuse. If you lose your audience it wont much matter which direction you head, will it? So until you decide, carry on with business as usual. Keep writing.
4. Reasons 1-4 Canceled Due To Disinterest! Film at 11.
Oh come on now, you aren’t even trying.
3. I don’t know what to write about.
So write about mind-blocks, mental stagnation, and how to find inspiration. Yes, again.
2. I’m busy with Christmas stuff!
You’ve ordered all the gifts online. You’ve had people offer to help with the cleaning and cooking. Come up with a MindTweak for the holidays or something. This isn’t brain-surgery you know (Just a bit of neurological tinkering).
1. This post isn’t worthy of breaking my silence! It should be.. quality! More Clever-er! It should draw readers back by the droves! It should be IMPORTANT.
Ok, you’ve got me there. It should be all those things, and it probably won’t be any of them. But even a half-way post is better than no post. If you don’t write at all, *no* post will ever be worthy, because it will never exist. So hit “Send,” already!
*SEND*
(there, isn’t that better?)

Hello MT:
A wise person once told me that the best is the enemy of the good. Welcome back
reason #11
I just got this new adorable hat and I’m busy obsessing about what outfit to build around it for maximum holiday cutitude.
Dawn!!
I was NOT obsessing… Ok, maybe a little.
See readers? This is why I don’t give my blog out to friends. They come onto your comment section and tell all your secrets
(For the record, she bought the same hat, and built outfits around it too!)
Ahem. *tries to look professional again*
Galba, I agree about the best being the enemy — Thanks for the welcome back, hopefully it’s to stay this time! (BTW, I got the cutest hat…)
Thank you for the inspiration! Ha Ha about obsessing on the hat and outfits. Funny how friends blow your cover on certain things.
Oh please don’t leave us alone here to read and re-read the older posts. Don’t get me wrong, they are all very empowering and informative. BUT you have it in you to write and help the world with your Tweaking ways…We, your followers, are depending on you to tweak our minds.
Hows that for a guilt trip?!
*Eeek…I better run because who am I not to post on my blog for a very long time…and then come here and play a guilt trip?
BUT wait…my blog is in no way comparable to your blog.*
You have followers and people who look up to you and, and, and I am going to write something now…bye

“My readership isn’t broad enough to have a significant impact anyway?”
Please come back…
M.T. we miss you! ;(
Reg, how about this.. “if I keep up my silence, my readership won’t be broad enough to matter!”
Jackie… awwwww.
I’ll try and post a Christmas oriented thing in a day or two, but that’ll be it until after the 25th. Think you can manage without me until Santa comes? ; )
It is getting that time of year. I understand you need a break. Sure, I can manage *chin quivering* without you until after the 25th.
Wishing you all the best this holiday season. Hope you and your family are doing well.
