New Blog Look, Same Blog Brain

by ToriDeaux on May 5, 2008

That’s right… MindTweaks is now sporting the latest in fashionable blog themes, a Deaux-tweaked version of Thesis, from Chris Pearson. You may know Chris as the designer of Copyblogger’s Wordpress theme, among others. He’s got a lot of lovely free themes available - just scroll down the page a bit.

Once upon a time, I swore I’d never pay for a Wordpress theme, there’s so many lovely free ones out there. But Thesis has some sweet features I couldn’t have created on my own, like the gorgeous completely resizable typography. (Go on, adjust the font size in your browser, I dare you!)

But like any upgrade, there are a few issues I still need to take care of, so things may look a bit funky while I finish the updates to sidebars, some of the post content, and so on.

Please let me know what you think? See any breakage or oddness in your browser? It’s nearly impossible to debug alone these days!

Looks elegant and purty. Are you still working in a menagerie, or at least a mutant creature consisting of elephant, donkey, cow and/or poodle parts?

All in good time, my deer Pun, all in good time!

i like the new look and new enthusiasm. but any creature *must* be predominantly deer. what’s wrong with Pun? she knows better! it may be a conspiracy. watch her closely is my advice.

Tori, the site looks great and loved the header.

I have only one suggestion, get rid of the wordpress subdomain ! I had hosted on a “blog” subdomain and got rid of it recently :)

@Dawn
Thanks Dawn, and no worries, deer shall always be a part of anything done by Ms. Deaux. It’s inescapable!

Pun was referring to a Twitter I sent last week, pondering the possibilities of a pachyderm as the Mindtweaks logo. Within a few tweets, we’d decided on a menagerie, or perhaps some sort of mutant hybrid of the Inner Donkey, Sacred Cow, and …. a poodle. I don’t really think a poodle has appeared here yet, but its bound to sooner or later.

But I agree, it’s always good to keep an eye on Pun.

(Though as a reassurance to others, we don’t usually spy on random readers around here. Just those we know. Who help us design things like mutant logos and brain bonnets, coming soon to a fashionable neuroscience boutique near you!)

@Venu Thanks! Re: the wordpress subdirectory, I’ve been debating it for ages. I originally had plans other plans for the primary domain, and I’m still going back and forth on it. Reading your post made me a bit more confident about the idea of moving it - it’s saved for when/if I finally make the decision.

Well, of course the predominant member of the menagerie is to be a gorgeous gazelle, I knew that. Oh, and for completeness’ sake, let’s not forget our chronotype avians - the lark, owl and hummingbird. *tweetchirphootflit*

Been AWOL for a few months had to get rid of a few bad habits…yes I am still smoke freeeeeee….and I am so happy about it too. Easy peasy! Thanks for the support! :-)

Enough about me, how the heck are you? Hope all is well with you and yours!! I will be back to read and will head over to Creative Crunch too.

Talk with you very soon. Have a wonderfully fantastic day!

Jackie!!! You’re back!!

Oh how I’ve missed your cheering section! You are, of course, allowed to take breaks and go AWOL, but I was starting to get worried - glad to know you’re doing well, and CONGRATS on winning the battle with tobacco!

I’m well (except for the spring allergies - achoo!) thanks for asking, and glad you like the changes ’round here. Crunch is likely to go the way of the Dodo bird, sadly - but it served its purpose and helped me find a renewed vigor here in Tweaksville.

Thank you for the congrats!

Renewed vigor is a wonderful thing. Sometimes we need to move, change or add things in order to figure out what we are or have been searching for really was not needed.
