Poll: Interested in a MindTweaks Discussion Forum?
“The War on Science” series raised some questions better suited to a discussion board than a blog comment section. I happen to have forum software set up for the upcoming e-course, and it wouldn’t be difficult to create a public section for general MindTweakish interactions.
But before I go to the trouble of all that…
I thought I’d ask ya’ll - is there any interest in a MindTweaks discussion forum? It might be only temporary, for discussing the science, politics and religion topics that have come up lately, or it could be a more permanent community set up. At the least, you would be helping me test the forum system and catch any bugs.
So what do you think?

9 voters. its sad that more people are intrested in dumb you tube videos, browsing myspace, and getting rich quick scams, than bettering themselves and the world around them.

I understand the sense of disillusionment, but for a blog this size? 9 responses in 2 days is pretty good, esp. when so many people are busy with politics and getting the kids back to school.
How do you feel about it, btw?

As owner of a blog that suffered peaks and valleys in terms of visitors, it is advisable to keep this up for longer. Y’never know what might happen next week or next month.
Park it on a sidebar if you need the space for articles but please leave it open a lot longer.
I made a file available for download back in February fully expecting a maximum download rate of approx 300 tops to December 08.
Luckily I left the file available. As at a few minutes ago 2008-08-28 07:40:03 there were 15,629 downloads. Not bad.
Shame I do not charge for it…..!

The poll didn’t show up and I’m on an older version of Safari … that’s probably why. If you are going to do a forum, do the whole thing. Forums, to me at least .. I’ve managed several over the years for NASA and other folks .. are what I call a reflected lifeform. By this I mean, they need a suitable environment, they need a certain number of colony forming units, there has the be a variety of organisms that adapt and fight for space and so forth, and you need to add sugar once in a while to keep it fermenting. They make a lovely textual tide pool though, if you give them the time and attention they need.

Richard, thank you for the complements : ) Sorry the poll didnt show up. I haven’t tested the blog with Safari, but I dont expect to use the poll option much, so I’ll be lazy about it bit longer. And good description of what makes a forum work. I’m most worried about reaching a critical mass. We shall see what happens ~

yes i would be interested in the forum i think its great i just meant i wish more % of people were interested too i believe the world is in need of serious change and hopefully this will be a starting point i myself am still young have much to learn and in need of serious change
