Anonymous Self PortraitWouldn’t it be great if our brains came with a really cool GUI and PowerTools?

Sadly, it doesn’t even come with an “Idiot’s Guide…” user-manual.

MindTweaks isn’t that manual - it’s more a Pimp-My-Brain blog, where we explore, discuss, review, disect, over-analyze and make fun of ways to fine-tune human thought processes, moods, emotions, creativity and that mysterious new concept of brain fitness, and all co-ordinated by your humble author.

And just who is your humble author?

That would be me. Not-So-Anonymous Portrait

I’m .. well… I’m not really sure who I am, some days ; ) For the first year of this blog adventure, I went simply by “M.T.” ; you’ll still find references to that non-identity scattered around the web. More recently, I’ve given up the mask of anonymity, and you’ll recognize me as Tori Deaux. (Hey, at least I don’t have the first name of Jayne, right?)

I’m not a counselor, psychiatrist, therapist, psychologist, certified creativity coach or neurosurgeon. My sole qualification for developing MindTweaks is that I have a brain that seems to need constant tweaking, and I’m not afraid to hack into it.

On a more personal note, I’m in my early 40’s, I live in Texas, and I’m married, no kids. I’m a painter, a writer, and a sometime graphic/web designer. I’ve been paid for all three, but hesitate to call myself a “professional” anything… just being me is a full time job!

So there you have it, a proper “About” page.

And here’s my proper disclaimer.

MindTweaks is for informational and entertainment purposes only; the site author(s) have no professional qualifications, and may in fact be stark raving mad themselves. No matter how brilliant, amusing, educated and humble this site may appear to be, these ramblings should never substitute for professional medical or psychiatric diagnosis, medication and treatment.

If you’re suffering from symptoms of mental distress, depression, or anxiety… if you’re being contacted by aliens through your dental fillings.. and seriously… if you have thoughts of harming yourself or others… please seek treatment with a professional.

If you ever feel especially desperate, call the good folks at Hopeline. 1.800.SUICIDE (784-2433)

If you’re under treatment, be sure to discuss any “tweaks” with your mental health professional *before* trying them out. Your friends, family, this author, and the site lawyers would feel ever so much better that way. Ok, I don’t have lawyers, but it’d be best if I never need them. So trust me. Consult the professionals.

Thanks!

Tori,
(The Deaux formerly known as MT)
